Students are encouraged to choose a topic of interest to them and become a news reporter to write an article about what's happening in the classroom. Visit the new MYSTERY PAGE to check out some of their work!!

Getting Focused & Activating Our Thinking

Team 201 is showing off their SMART MOVES. We start off each and every day with smart moves. We work towards mastery and then move up to a new level. Currently, we are on the 'Challenging' level. Smart Moves gets our day started just right. Research shows that these moves help to improve our memory, focus, & attention.
In Reading Workshop, I asked Team 201 a question and EVERYONE raised their hand. It was quite a moment, so I had to take a picture of it! I am so proud of their participation!

An Incredibly Memorable Field Trip

The trees were blowing hard outside the windows. The forecast called for cold temperatures and rain. Will 3rd graders STILL go on the field trip to Plimoth Plantation? You betcha! The weather caused many other schools to cancel leaving us with so much more room to explore and learn!

Wampanoag Presentations Entertain All

Team 201 learned about the Wampanoag tribe through reading, discussing, creating, and presenting in front of their peers. Each small group was assigned one of the following topics: Making Clothing, Making Tools, How Children Learn, & The Spiritual World. After reading together about the assigned topic, students chose 5 important pieces of information from their reading to write down. Then, they used that information to work together and create a brief presentation to teach their peers what they learned. All I asked was for it to be enetertaining and informative. Boy, did they deliver! In the short time they were alotted to create their presentation, groups made props, wrote skits, and found ways to teach their peers and make us all laugh while learning. Well done, Team 201!

Halloween Parade & Pumpkin Science

It was a fun-filled Halloween day in school! During our annual stroll down Main Street for the Mullen Hall Halloween parade, we walked with our Kindergarten Buddies and showed off our costumes to all who attended. Following the parade, we got into groups and became scientists using parts of the scientific method by observing, hypothesizing, experimenting, and discovering the outside and inside of a pumpkin!
